On May 26 and 27, 2026, Barcelona once again became one of the key meeting points for Spain’s coworking and flexible workspace industry with the Coworking Spain Conference 2026 (CWSC).
Held at Aticco Diagrame, the conference brought together coworking operators, property owners, consultants, suppliers and other professionals involved in the development and management of flexible workspaces.
HQFlex was there once again, but this year’s edition had a special significance for us. In addition to attending the conference, we joined the jury and had the opportunity to present two of the Coworking Awards 2026.

The Coworking Spain Conference has become an important meeting point for analysing the evolution of coworking in Spain, discovering new business models and discussing the challenges facing a rapidly developing market.
Over two days, Barcelona hosted talks, panels and networking opportunities focused on the present and future of flexible workspaces.
For HQFlex, actively participating in events like CWSC is part of how we approach the industry: staying close to operators, property owners and other professionals gives us a clearer understanding of how demand, operating models and user expectations are evolving.
Two Coworking Awards 2026 presented by HQFlex
The Coworking Awards 2026 ceremony took place on May 27, recognising companies, projects and professionals making a significant contribution to the industry.
This year, HQFlex’s Aurea Rivela and Óscar López presented two of the awards.
LOOM wins Best Coworking 2026
Aurea Rivela presented the Best Coworking 2026 award to LOOM, MERLIN Properties’ flexible office division.
The recognition highlights factors that are becoming increasingly important in the flex market, including user experience, workspace design and the ability to create environments adapted to the changing needs of companies and professionals.
For HQFlex, presenting this award was also an opportunity to recognise how far the Spanish flexible workspace market has progressed in terms of quality, design and professionalisation.
Aticco receives the Expansion & Growth award
Óscar López presented the Expansion & Growth award to Aticco, recognising the company’s development and pace of new workspace openings.
Operator expansion is another indicator of how significantly the coworking market has evolved in recent years.
Flexible workspace is no longer exclusively associated with freelancers and small businesses. Flexible offices have become an increasingly relevant option for companies and teams looking for adaptability, services and workspaces capable of evolving alongside their needs.

Spain’s coworking market continues to mature
The conversations that followed the conference reinforced something that was already clear during the event: Spain’s flexible workspace industry continues to evolve.
Operators increasingly compete on factors such as workspace design, user experience, community, technology, services and the ability to respond to different types of companies.
At the same time, there is room for projects of very different sizes. Alongside large national operators, independent coworking spaces continue to develop distinctive concepts with strong positions in their local markets.
This diversity is helping the industry move beyond a single definition of coworking towards a much broader ecosystem of flexible workspace models.
