In October, HQFlex participated in a new edition of the Coworking Summit organized by the Proworkspaces association, this time held in Alicante, where the weather was unusually warm for that time of year.
At HQFlex, we support the hosting of events in cities beyond Madrid and Barcelona (where there is a higher concentration of flexible offices and traditionally more events and activities). The sector continues to grow rapidly in provincial capitals such as Málaga, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao, Oviedo… and, of course, Alicante. This was evident in the turnout, the interest of visitors, and the participation of local institutions.
HQFlex was one of the event sponsors, with our brand appearing on the entry badges as well as on flyers included in the attendee welcome bags.
The day before the main event, we visited the Actiu facilities in Castalla, about half an hour from Alicante by bus. Soledat Berbegal, Actiu’s Director of Corporate Reputation, whom we’ve known for years, gave us a tour of their offices, factory, and showroom. We love the passion she conveys when talking about the company’s origins, history, and the projects they are working on, both those with a local impact and those focused on sustainability.
Afterwards, Gustavo Valbuena, Actiu’s Head of Innovation, presented future trends, which we thoroughly enjoyed and took notes on:
Design for life, and its applications in workspaces, travel, and education.
Regenerative spaces: aiming to leave a space better than it was before. Well-being and sustainability are no longer enough; we must go further.
The importance of the Silver economy, in a growing population segment, as well as designing for neurodiversity and functional diversity.
And finally, technological convergence, focusing on the integration of various advancing technologies (AI, big data, IoT, cloud computing…).
After the presentation, we ended the day with a cocktail and returned by bus to Alicante.
The following day, at the main conference held at the Alicante Auditorium, the program of talks unfolded, covering a wide range of topics: technology, purpose-driven businesses, pricing and margins, infrastructure providers (such as access control, software, marketing, sustainability), and the latest industry data.
Óscar López, co-founder of HQFlex, took part in the panel discussion “The Future of Work” alongside Nacho Cambralla (Wayco), Soledat Berbegal (Actiu), and Nicolás Salame (Akiles). During his intervention, he shared:
“We talk about flexibility — companies avoid fixed costs because revenue is no longer fixed. Flexibility is no longer an option; it’s a necessity. The traditional office without any flexibility is on the verge of extinction, just like employees with an inflexible mindset. [..]
We’re moving toward a society where employees are expected to have a more autonomous mindset [..]. The office is a tool to improve people’s motivation — a space for connection, for teamwork, collaboration, and creation [..].
The office must adapt to its users and their clients. The office belongs to everyone — those working from home and those in traditional settings will ultimately end up in flex.”
In the final panel of the day, key industry data was shared, featuring Teresa Císcar (JLL), Katri Tuori (The Instant Group), and Salvador Aguilar (CBRE), in a discussion moderated by Juanjo Martínez (Networkia).
In our next post, we’ll dive into these data insights — stay tuned!
